1953 Corvette

This is the beauty that started it all, the 1953 Corvette. The first one was built on June 30, 1953, in Flint, MI. This model was not actually built in a so-called factory but in a temporary facility in the back of the customer delivery garage. Of the 300 built, 225 are accounted for today. That is an amazing number. The third and fourth 1953 Corvettes built are in the hands of private owners. The theory about the first two cars is the serial numbers were given to two Motorama show cars. They believe the first two cars in Flint were engineering prototypes destroyed in testing, so it is believed the first production car is actually number three.
