1960 Corvette and 1961 Corvette

The 1960 Corvette was the first year for aluminum radiators; they were only used for 270hp and 290hp engines. It was also the last year to feature taillights that formed in the round fenders and the last with the heavy teeth in the fenders. All of the fuel injection engines required manual transmissions as well.

The 1961 Corvette changed exterior styling. It was the first model without heavy "teeth" in the grill area. New taillight restyling was added to the rear, four to be exact, which is now a Corvette trademark. The interior space was increased by simply reducing the width of the transmission tunnel by 20%. The 1961 model also introduced the use of an aluminum case for its 4-speed transmission.
