1962 Corvette and 1963 Corvette

The 1962 Corvette changed the displacement of the 283ci to 327ci. Dual carburetor engines were no longer available. The 1962 models could not be ordered with a painted side cover because the trim was no longer available. This was the last year for conventional trunks until they were introduced again in 1982 and had exposed headlights.

The 1963 Corvette was another year for a redesign. Both the body and chassis were redesigned for the 1963 model, and for the first time, a coupe body was available. This was the year of the split window where a center split on the coupe roof flowed through the rear glass to create the now-famous "split window." This was also the first Corvette to do away with the solid rear axle.
